Subway Metrocard Vending Machines had credit/debit problems

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

On Monday, the NYCT Metrocard Vending Machines (MVM) had problems accepting credit cards and debit cards as payment:

Later that morning, the website said the problem was resolved:

Then the problem came back again! I don’t have a screenshot of that.

Finally, on Tuesday the problem was resolved and an apology issued:

Hot on the heels of the announcement that PATH and two NJT bus routes will get a MasterCard contactless payment trial, it was reported yesterday that NYCT is expanding its existing Tap and go trial program in ways I never expected (I thought the trial would end and that would be that, but I’m being pleasantly surprised). It looks like you may be able to use a single contactless fare device on parts of NYCT, PATH, and NJT in maybe a year. Very cool.
